Paul O’Hanlon of TFMoran volunteers with NH Envirothon

TFMoran Environmental Permitting Specialist, Paul O’Hanlon volunteered with the NH Envirothon Student Science Competition last week, held at NHTI in Concord.

NH Envirothon is an annual competition that introduces students to the STEM field to build real-world connections and gain experience in the professional field. Its mission is to introduce students to the STEM field at a young age, providing skills in protecting our natural resources and conservation in conjunction with the growth of society today.

Students participating in the Envirothon are subject to testing across a broad range of subjects within the Environmental Field: Introducing or honing skills in soils, aquatic ecology, wildlife, forestry, and current events in the field today. Volunteers accompanied student groups to testing “stations”, providing guidance and information as needed (without revealing answers, of course).

Once testing was completed, students gathered in an auditorium to hear from guest speakers working in the STEM field, and the winners were announced.

TFM Portsmouth Office Gives Back to Community with GATHER

On Friday, June 15th, TFMoran Portsmouth division closed the office and spent the day volunteering at GATHER, the Portsmouth Family Food Pantry.  All 14 employees spent the day doing inventory, which consisted of weighing, logging, and tagging all eatable inventory in the GATHER warehouse.  TFMoran employees also transferred a truckload of donated food into a van destined for another city’s food pantry in the seacoast.  Overall, the day spent volunteering at GATHER was a success not only by giving back, but also coming together as a group for a fun day with the intent of helping others.

4 TFM Engineers Adopt-A-Block InTown Manchester

On the afternoon of Friday, June 2nd, TFMoran employees once again joined other local volunteers for InTown Manchester’s annual Adopt-A-Block. The event is a neighborhood clean-up usually held near Earth Day, but due to the persistent springtime rain, Adopt-A-Block was rescheduled to June. This year Jeremy Belanger, Maureen Kelly, Matthew Mullen, and Robert Vida picked up trash, raked, and mulched near the Mill Girl statue on Commercial Street. With several other groups assigned to the large swath of green space, there was just enough work to go around. InTown Manchester hosted a reception at local restaurant, 900 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria, to celebrate another successful year of helping to keep Manchester “clean and green.”

TFMoran staff Volunteer for Adopt-A-Block

TFMoran staff took the afternoon to volunteer in Manchester as part of Intown Manchester’s Adopt-A-Block event which was held on Friday, April 22, 2016.  The Adopt-A-Block event is an organized neighborhood clean up effort that happens once a year around Earth Day.  TFMoran staff joined almost 60 other community minded volunteers in the Manchester Mill Yard for an afternoon of raking, mulching, trimming, and picking up litter to help keep Downtown Manchester clean and green.  In total over 20 local businesses worked in conjunction with the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department and the UNH Cooperative Expansion to make the Adopt-A-Block event a huge success and to make a very visible improvement in the community.  Intown Manchester’s photos of the event can be found on their facebook page.
