Survey Technician, Justin Geddis, Passes Survey Drone Exam

We’re excited to share that one of our Survey Technicians, Justin Geddis, has passed his FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot Exam with an outstanding 92%!

The Part 107 exam is no small feat—it covers critical topics such as FAA regulations, airspace classifications, weather patterns, and safe flight procedures for small, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Earning this certification is a key requirement for commercial drone operation and reflects a strong understanding of safe and responsible flight practices.

Justin’s achievement positions him to play an even greater role in our survey drone program, enhancing our ability to capture accurate, efficient, and high-quality data from the field.

TFMoran Attends Abbott Court Groundbreaking Ceremony

On Wednesday, November 12, TFMoran joined project partners, Town of Derry officials, and community members to celebrate the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Abbott Court Redevelopment Project in downtown Derry, NH.

As the civil engineering, structural engineering, and landscape architecture partner on the project, TFMoran is proud to support this transformational development that will bring new housing, parking, and commercial opportunities to the heart of the community.

The event featured remarks from local leaders and project partners, including representatives from Harvey Construction, Built Form, LLC, Lansing Melbourne Group, Randall-Paulson Architects,Desman Parking Consultants, and the Town of Derry, who spoke about the collaboration that brought this long-envisioned project to life. The Derry Fire and Police Departments were also on hand, offering support. Refreshments were provided as the group officially broke ground.

The Abbott Court project will deliver significant downtown revitalization, including:

  • NEW Units of market-rate housing

  • A NEW parking structure

  • Improved connectivity with the adjacent Derry Rail Trail

TFMoran’s team has been deeply involved in planning and design efforts to help transform this former brownfield site into a vibrant, mixed-use development that will enhance walkability, support local businesses, and attract new residents to downtown Derry.

This groundbreaking marks a major step forward in a project that will catalyze future investment and long-term economic growth in the community. TFMoran is honored to contribute engineering expertise to this important public-private partnership and looks forward to supporting progress as construction continues!

Atlantic Orthopedics Project featured in April 3rd issue of NE Real Estate Journal

John Lorden, PE, Senior Project Manager at MSC: a Division of TFMoran, Inc., wrote a feature article on the future expansion of Atlantic Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in the April 3rd edition of the New England Real Estate Journal.   MSC, the Portsmouth, NH division of TFMoran provided survey, civil/site engineering and permitting for two 20,000sf medical office buildings at 1900 Lafayette Road in Portsmouth, NH.  Atlantic Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, will occupy one building along with an MRI coach and future MRI addition.  The project team includes general contractor BBL Medical Facilities and architect HCP Architects, both of Albany, NY. All of the project team members have worked closely with Atlantic Orthopedics & Sports Medicne since the initial planning stages of this exciting project.

Portsmouth, NH – The final vacant lot along Lafayatte Road (US Route 1) in Portsmouth’s Office/Residential zoning district will soon be home to Atlantic Orthopedics & Sports Medicine’s new facility. MSC a division of TFMoran, Inc., recently received planning board approval for two new office buildings. Construction will soon be underway at 1900 Lafayette Road in Portsmouth, as the ground breaking is scheduled for April 2015.

Atlantic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, currently located at 150 Route 1 Bypass in Portsmouth, will be occupying the new office building closest to Lafayette Road. After considering an expansion to their existing location, Atlantic Orthopedics & Sports Medicine ultimately decided that a new facility would better fit their needs to continue providing quality services to their patients.

“The project required a lengthy and challenging permitting process, as details related to stormwater drainage and the complete build-out of a service road connecting local businesses were vital components of the project” explained John Lorden, PE, MSC’s Senior Project Manager. “Ultimately, stormwater drainage was allowed to connect to existing municipal storm drainage via a proposed service road. This connection of the service road located within the Lafayette West Industrial Park will provide additional access to local roads and nearby businesses. The complete build-out of the service road was part of a long-term plan envisioned since the property was subdivided in 1983, when an easement was established allowing access and use to all abutting parcels. The service road will improve access to all parcels along the service road, provide more direct access to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for doctors and patients, and also alleviate some traffic on the heavily traveled corridor,” continued Lorden.

Parkland Medical Center Project Is Featured in the Union Leader

The Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH recently opened their new Center for Emotional Wellness.  News of the opening was featured in the Union Leader newspaper.

TFMoran provided the civil/site design, permitting and survey for the new 7,500sf, two-story addition and a 2,600sf renovation for the new Emotional & Behavioral Wellness Unit at Parkland Medical Center. Architects JSA, Inc. designed the new $3million inpatient behavioral health care facility, Hutter Construction of New Ipswich, NH is the general contractor. Parkland Medical Center is proud to offer this new program which will provide patients with comprehensive, individualized emotional wellness care when they need it the most, without leaving the community.

TFMoran and MSC Civil Engineers Announce Merger

TFMoran, Inc., a regional full service engineering firm, is pleased to announce that MSC Engineers, one of the leading engineering firms in the NH Seacoast area, is now a division of TFM. This merger allows MSC to substantially expand its traditional survey and civil engineering services by adding structural engineering, landscape architecture, wetlands delineation, traffic engineering, and construction inspection services.

Robert Duval, PE, President of TFM, explains that, “With the addition of MSC, an established engineering firm with a long history and solid reputation, we can offer more value and convenience to our clients not only in the Seacoast area, but throughout the region”.

J. Corey Colwell, LLS, former President of MSC, will serve as the Division Manager, and oversee the Portsmouth division. The new office will retain the MSC name and current location at 170 Commerce Way in Portsmouth. The current staff contacts and phone numbers will also remain unchanged.
