New England College – Athletic Center Addition

TFMoran’s Structural Engineering team is proud to serve as the structural engineer for a new 10,000-square-foot addition to the Athletic Center at New England College in Henniker, NH.

This expansion enhances the campus with new office space, a modern fitness center, and a welcoming grand entrance designed to make a bold first impression. The entry features exposed structural steel framing, lateral cable braces, and a cross-laminated timber (CLT) roof deck—creating an open, dynamic aesthetic that showcases the building’s structural systems as an architectural feature.

TFMoran provided comprehensive structural engineering services for this hybrid structural system, which thoughtfully integrates multiple framing solutions to meet the project’s functional and architectural goals. The addition incorporates load-bearing cold-formed metal framing, structural steel framing, and cross-laminated timber decking. This combination of materials maximizes efficiency, durability, and performance while delivering a clean and modern design expression.

The exposed steel framing and lateral cable brace system not only contribute to the visual impact of the grand entrance but also provide critical lateral stability. The CLT roof deck offers strength, stiffness, and constructability advantages, supporting both structural performance and construction efficiency.

Working collaboratively with Stone River Architects and Harvey Construction, TFMoran is proud to deliver innovative and resilient structural solutions that support the continued growth of the NEC campus. This project reflects our commitment to thoughtful engineering, integrated design, and creating long-lasting value for institutional clients throughout New England!
