TFMoran provided structural engineering design and construction administration services to Gavin and Sullivan Architects and Heritage Properties for redeveloping the historic century-old Waterhead Mill building into 71 luxury apartments at 850 Lawrence Street in Lowell, MA. This 4-story, 77,000 square foot renovation provides a much needed luxury apartment community minutes to downtown Lowell and area highways. The renovation converts existing heavy timber and brick commercial industrial space to studio and one bedroom apartments. Renovation construction added a new lobby entrance, elevator, exterior ramp, and new stairwell. Waterhead was designed to create a historic oasis with exposed timber and brick and all the conveniences of modern living. Amenities include a fitness center, theater room, dog spa, package room, bike storage, coworking space, and a community room.
This historic mill renovation, preservation and re-use project started in early 2019 and is now enjoyed by residents living “The Life at Waterhead”.
