TFMoran’s Bedford office recently hosted an insightful Lunch & Learn featuring Hunter Moffitt from AstroTurf and Julia Fairbanks from SYNLawn, focusing on the latest synthetic turf systems for athletic and landscape applications. The session provided an in-depth look at how these innovative products are transforming sports fields, playgrounds, dog parks, rooftops, and commercial landscapes with a focus on durability, safety, and sustainability.

Hunter presented AstroTurf’s cutting-edge sport-specific turf solutions, spotlighting the 3D3 system, which is engineered to mimic the look and feel of natural grass while offering enhanced durability and player safety. He also highlighted the Astro Pad, a safety underlayer designed to absorb impact and reduce injuries such as concussions and ligament damage, especially on older fields. This pad is built to last up to 20 years, significantly extending the lifespan of athletic surfaces.

Julia showcased SYNLawn’s versatile synthetic turf options tailored for various landscape uses, including playgrounds, dog parks, and rooftop installations. Her presentation emphasized key features like ADA compliance, antimicrobial fibers that help control odors and bacteria, and the use of PFAS-free, soy-based backing materials—all contributing to more sustainable and eco-friendly turf solutions. Installation best practices, proper drainage, and maintenance strategies were also discussed to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
