TFMoran is sponsoring Hopkinton High School and John Stark Regional High School’s FIRST Robotics Team OzRam 1922 for the 2024 Season. The team consists of students from Weare, Henniker, and Hopkinton, participating in the global FIRST Robotics Program. Each season, the team builds a robot from materials including mechanical gears, motors, and software to compete with other regional and worldwide teams in the yearly FIRST Robotics Challenge.
Recently, the team competed in the Greater Boston District Event in Revere, MA on March 23rd and 24th. The team competed against 38 other teams from around New England, showcasing their robot to perform game-scoring tasks in a time-limited period. During the first match in the quarterfinals, the match alliance (3 teams) scored the highest combined score in the world!
OzRam finished in 6th place, securing their place to compete in the NE FIRST District Championship, which hosts top teams for a weekend at The Big E in West Springfield, MA, from April 3rd through 6th.
This program relies on financial sponsorships to support team activities. Sponsorship allows the team to attend local, regional (and hopefully international) events, update components for their robots, equip their lab, and help promote STEM!
Best of luck at the NE FIRST District Championships, OzRam 1922!
TFMoran structural engineers worked with Maugel DeStefano Architects to complete a renovation project at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. The recently completed project is featured as Project of the Month in New England Real Estate Journal’s April 2024 issue.
The project included relocating and modernizing the hospital’s central sterilization processing and operating suites to a larger space. Moving the sterilization suite to this new space increased processing volume, provided a direct connection to the existing operating suite, and added space for same-day surgery pre- and post-operative suites. A new operating room, nurse station, offices, anesthesia workroom, sterile storage, and expanded equipment storage were added to the existing operating suite.
“Maugel DeStefano Architects’ healthcare design team, together with Columbia and BR+A Engineers, has successfully undertaken substantial renovations in multiple areas of Sturdy Memorial Hospital, including the modernization of CT imaging, same day surgery, inpatient pharmacy, and LDRP,” said architect Colby Cavanagh, healthcare studio lead at Maugel DeStefano Architects. “We are pleased that our collective accomplishments have significantly enhanced the patient experience and improved the comfort and efficiency for Sturdy’s dedicated staff.”

Mahreana Hopson, PE Structural Project Engineer, TFMoran, Inc.
Published in High Profile Magazine March 2024
Mahreana Hopson, PE is a structural project manager at TFMoran. When asked how she navigates the unique challenges women face in the construction industry, Mahreana says, “Although I was only able to participate in a single official mentorship program, I have really enjoyed the opportunities I have had in my career to mentor younger women in the industry. Any new college graduate feels uncertain at the start of their first job, but I feel women have a greater need to prove themselves.” She says there is a struggle with the balance of asking enough questions to be successful yet not too many to make one appear less qualified from a male counterpart. Then as women advance in their careers, there is the challenge of how to approach the older male generation that often is not comfortable taking direction from younger women. She continues, “I only hope to pass on the knowledge I have gained from my own experiences and provide the much-needed sounding board I could have benefited from having during those times. I think mentorship for women by women is the key to our continued success in the construction sector.”
When asked what changes or progress she has witnessed in the industry regarding gender diversity and inclusion, Mahreana says, “Most recently, I have noticed a shift in the amount of attention that is being brought to metrics on gender diversity and inclusion in our industry.” She says it is so wonderful to see companies acknowledging the discrepancies and possible deficiencies within their organization and then the drive that the younger workforce has to see these rectified with visible change. “It provides me with a lot of hope for our future,” she adds.
