The Village at Banfield Woods, a TFMoran seacoast project. published in Portsmouth Herald

The Village at Banfield Woods, a recent project of TFMoran, has been published in the Portsmouth Herald just in time for Engineer’s Week! This highly desirable community is surrounded by woodlands covering over 44 acres, inviting its residents to enjoy the great outdoors. TFMoran worked with Green & Company and provided local and state permitting, surveying, civil engineering, planning, landscape architecture, and construction administration services for the project. This residential development currently under construction will feature 22-unit stand-alone condominiums with common open space.

TFMoran Principal Corey Colwell is featured in the article, speaking about the project team and the design challenges that they faced. “This project utilized an exceptional team of consultants including soil and wetland scientists, wildlife biologists, civil engineers, surveyors, attorneys, and land planning consultants to design and permit this unique neighborhood.”

We are proud to be a part of the project team bringing this community to Portsmouth!

TFMoran featured in Union Leader Special ‘STEM’ Section

Engineers Week is here! The New Hampshire Union Leader has presented a special edition this week to promote ‘STEM’ professions and to celebrate Engineers for all that they do. This special section includes a recent TFMoran project, the NH SportsDome on the front page! TFMoran Principal, Nick Golon spoke of the trials and tribulations that came with this first-of-its-kind structure in New Hampshire:

“Given its magnitude, siting the structure to minimize sightlines from adjacent properties, while maintaining required setbacks, and providing the necessary utility infrastructure were challenging issues. Another significant element was snow removal, to make sure that snowfall would not pose any risk of damage to the structure. Site grading and drainage were carefully designed so that snow and snowmelt could be conveyed safely and efficiently away from the structure and surrounding parking through an open drainage system of swales and infiltration basins.”

TFMoran President Robert Duval in New England Real Estate Journal’s “2021 Forecast Spotlight”

TFMoran President Robert Duval shared his point of view on recent construction and real estate industry trends in The New England Real Estate Journal‘s “2021 Forecast Spotlight“. Industry trends he predicts will linger include a shortage of skilled labor due to the misalignment between education and the needs of employers. He goes on to state “applicants with degrees from well-known schools have only rudimentary training in the software that they will need on the job from day one”. Strict regulations are another setback for the industry, with the permitting process, rather than design controlling the project delivery date. “Nearly all commercial projects these days are required to submit studies of items once considered to be only for ‘major projects’. Bob goes on to say “another thing that won’t be changing in the year ahead: it will take a team of skilled experts working together from the earliest possible moments to deliver a successful project on time”.
