Joshua Barr has joined the TFMoran Portsmouth team as a Survey and Environmental Permitting summer intern. Josh is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from the University of New England. He has experience working as a caretaker at Salcha River State Park in Alaska, and at Saco River Salmon Hatchery in Maine.

Cassi Beroney Promoted to Accounting Assistant
Cassi Beroney was recently promoted to Accounting Assistant at TFMoran’s headquarters in Bedford. Ms. Beroney has been with the company for five years, previously serving as Administrative Assistant/Receptionist. She received an Associate’s degree in Accounting from Mount Washington College (formerly Hesser College). Ms. Beroney’s new tasks include payroll, billing, and other accounting duties.

Robert Duval Speaks at Northern New England State of Commercial Real Estate 2017 Summit
On Thursday, June 29, 2017 New England Real Estate Journal hosted the Northern New England State of Commercial Real Estate 2017 Summit at the Portsmouth Harbor Events & Conference Center in Portsmouth, NH. TFMoran was a Corporate Sponsor, along with Build-It Construction, Fulcrum, CBRE|Portsmouth and Hinckley Allen. PROCON and Waterstone were the Gold Sponsors and Vendor Sponsors were U.S. Pavement and KANE.
The event started out with networking during a breakfast buffet, followed by 3 sessions of topics addressing Commercial Real Estate, ending with discussions and networking between attendees and speakers. Sessions included Capital Investments & Financing Availability; Construction Projects & Trends; and Real Estate Updates & Trends. TFMoran’s president and Chief Engineer, Robert Duval, PE was asked to speak on the panel addressing Construction Projects & Trends. Some of the topics he addressed included an update on regulatory and permitting issues; a shortage of skilled labor in the workforce (specifically engineering and surveying); and new 3D technology in design and construction. TFM Bedford Mentors 3 Interns for the Summer
School’s out and interns are in here at the TFMoran Bedford office. Jack Watton, Kelsie Gagner, and Hannah Kelsey are TFM’s 2017 summer interns. Each of them operates in a different department under a knowledgeable and experienced supervisor/mentor. Jack attends the University of New Hampshire Durham and will obtain a BS in Civil Engineering in the spring of 2018. His work takes place in the civil engineering department working under Principal Jeff Kevan. Jack is being familiarized with AutoCAD, HydroCAD, and all aspects of civil engineering. Last year Jack interned in our surveying department, so he is familiar with the staff and expectations of TFM. Kelsie is attending Southern New Hampshire University working towards a BS in Business Administration for the spring of 2018. She interns in the marketing department under Marketing Coordinator Susan Bartley. Kelsie is designated tasks based on the events TFM attends or important upcoming happenings. She also is given the independence to come up with new and creative marketing strategies for TFMoran. Hannah is currently attending Smith College and will obtain a BS in Civil Engineering in 2021. She works under Senior Project Manager Dan Blais in the stormwater department, allowing her to visit current job sites and get a feel for the environmental engineering portion of the company. This is Hannah’s second year with TFM, as she did her independent senior project internship here for The Derryfield School.
We acknowledge the importance of interns here at TFM, as they are teaching us as much as we are teaching them. Becoming familiarized with millennia’s and generation Y is a necessity as the minds of young people have changed, bringing new demands and ideas of what a workplace should be like. Technology is advancing at rapid speed, and it’s hard for those who have not grown up surrounded by it to adapt. With the younger generation, they are able to mold and mend to the new technologies being thrown at them every day. Having interns teaches companies what exactly future employees are looking for, and what they’re not looking for. This is the most interns we’ve had at TFM at one time, we are honored to have them here and support the local colleges and universities. Having student interns creates a form of engagement between young people and a potential career; it gives them a taste of what the “adult world” is like. Not only that, but internships are the key to building experience in an intern, and we are proud to say that their experience will come from us!

Ribbon Cutting at Chandler Place – Affordable Senior Living Apartments in Plaistow, NH
TFMoran’s COO, Dylan Cruess and Project Manager, Tom Burns, PE joined in the celebration of the completion of Phase I of Chandler Place Apartments on 18 Chandler Ave, in Plaistow, NH. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Friday, June 16th led by Steven Lewis, one of the three local developers. New Hampshire’s Governor Chris Sununu and town officials were also on hand to support this 62-and-older affordable senior housing project. Phase I of this two-phased project, consists of 25 one and two bedroom apartments, each averaging between 650-670 square feet, and a community center and business center on site. Phase I was completed in-part from receiving $330,000 through the state’s Affordable Housing Fund and $4 million through Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits. Residential applicants had to be at or below a required income level to qualify. The approximate rent for a one bedroom is $915 and a two bedroom is $1,095. At the time of the ribbon-cutting event, occupancy was to capacity, with a waiting list for an open unit. Phase II could add an additional 14 more apartments.
The project team for Phase I of Chandler Place Apartments included TFMoran for land surveying and civil/site engineering services, Burnell-Johnson Architects for architectural design, Gary Chicoine Construction for building, and Jameson Excavation for site work.

Relax, Revive, Refreshed Engineers
Employees can now kickback and relax while they’re at work with the newly implemented monthly chair massages TFMoran offers. Once a month, a massage therapist visits the office to give fifteen minute massages to everyone on-sight that day. Jess Gelinas, a massage therapist and owner of Deeply Kneaded Massage Therapy located at 50 Bridge St. Manchester, NH, is the masseuse who comes into TFM. The high demand of projects and work recently have engulfed our staff, however, it’s nothing a quick shoulder massage can’t fix. A portable massage chair is set up in the upstairs conference room and employees schedule a time to go visit Jess throughout the day. Though Jess just left the office, our TFMoran staff is looking forward to her next visit.
Thank you Jess for always coming in and revamping our staff so their productivity levels stay at an all time high!

East vs West – TFM partners with CHaD for Annual NH High School All-Star Football Game
TFMoran welcomed the opportunity to partner with CHaD, Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in New Hampshire. The Children’s Hospital hosts an annual football game between East New Hampshire and West New Hampshire that raises money for medical research. This year the game will be held on Friday, June 30th at Saint Anselm College at 7 pm. CHaD has 15 locations throughout New England including Manchester, Bedford, and Nashua. They are the only comprehensive full-service children’s hospital in Northern New England. CHaD fills a necessary need by performing many important medical tasks such as, caring for premature babies, responding to traumatic injuries, supporting children and teens in managing complex chronic disease or helping families cope with the challenges of childhood illness. There is also an annual CHaD All-Star Golf Tournament on June 13 held at the Stonebridge Country Club in Goffstown, NH. A portion of the money raised from both events will go to Kristen’s Gift Endowment fund for children fighting cancer at CHaD. TFMoran was only one of many companies who donated to this very important cause. CHaD cares for all current and future patients regardless of their ability to pay. Their mission is to treat and get kids back to their healthy selves as quick as they can!

Jason Hill receives his Professional Engineer License
Jason Hill, PE recently received his New Hampshire Professional Engineer license. Jason serves as a Project Manager for TFMoran, Inc. in the Civil Engineering Department. He has over 15 years of experience including site planning and design of private land development projects, public works projects, stormwater management systems, and design of piped utilities. Jason is NHDOT LPA Certified and is experienced in roadway design and permitting. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Syracuse University. Jason works in TFMoran’s Bedford office.

TFM Hosts 2017 NH CIBOR Annual Awards Cookout
On Thursday, June 8th TFMoran hosted the Annual NH Commercial Investment Board of REALTORS® Awards Cookout. Approximately one hundred NHCIBOR members and TFMoran staff were on hand to enjoy a beautiful summer evening with no chance of rain. Dave and crew from the Wine’ing Butcher of Bedford, once again did a great job grilling up delicious steak tips, turkey tips, burgers and hot dogs. TFMoran has been hosting the annual NH CIBOR meeting and cookout for 20 years. TFMoran is proud to partner with CIBOR each year for such a great event.
Bob Duval, TFM’s President started out the presentation by welcoming the members, introducing the company, and thanking the TFM staff for their efforts in making the cookout a success. NH CIBOR President Kathy DeMello presented Bob Marchewka of One Commercial Real Estate LLC with the REALTOR-of-the-Year award, and Bill Jean of Fulcrum Associates, Inc. with the Affiliate-of-the Year award. The traditional “Awards Cake” was presented to Bob and Bill, who did the honors of cutting the first pieces. The gals from The Inside Scoop, topped off the cake with a scoop of delicious Richardson’s ice cream.

TFMoran Completes Work at Elliot Health System’s Medical Center
Bedford, NH – TFMoran, Inc., of Bedford, provided site design and civil engineering, permitting, surveying, and landscape architecture services for a new 58,000sf Elliot Health System’s Medical Center located at Hillside Shops at Bedford on Leavy Drive.
The medical office building broke ground in December 2016 and is the final phase of this multi-use development designed by TFMoran and originally developed by AV Bedford, LLC.
This new state-of-the-art medical center will house three existing Elliot primary care practices, that are now at three different locations in Bedford. According to Elliot Health Systems, “The two family medical offices will be combined in the new facility, and the pediatric office will also be relocated in the new center. Services such as lab, mammography, x-ray, bone density screening, and pharmacy will also be included for better patient care.”
This two-story medical office building is located on a sloping site and will have at-grade entries on two sides at upper and lower levels. Lavallee Brensinger Architects of Manchester designed the exterior to have traditional New England forms and materials accenting the entrances and corners.
Constructed by A W Rose Construction, LLC of Manchester, this new facility will be completed in two phases, the first of which includes two levels and is expected to be completed by January 2018. The second phase consists of construction of a third level.
