Jeremy Belanger promoted to Senior Project Engineer

Congratulations to Jeremy Belanger, EIT who was recently promoted to Senior Project Engineer.

Mr. Belanger joined TFMoran in 2015 serving as a Project Engineer in the civil engineering department in Bedford. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Water Resources) from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Belanger’s work experience includes civil/site design and infrastructure design, as well as regulatory permitting and approvals for residential, commercial, industrial, municipal and energy projects.

SNHU’s Kingston Hall Recognized at AIANH Excellence in Design Awards

TFMoran Senior Structural Engineers, Tom Lamb, PE and Kyle Roy, PE represented TFMoran at the American Institute of Architects New Hampshire 35th Annual Excellence in Design Award Ceremony on Thursday, March 28, 2019. The design awards recognize some of the best architectural designs of the year. The award ceremony was hosted at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester.

This year, Kingston Hall was recognized for a Citation Award for Excellence in Architectural Design – Commercial. TFMoran provided survey, permitting, civil/site engineering, and landscape architecture for the 5-story, 382-bed dormitory at Southern New Hampshire University. The 114,775 sf building is located on the west side of the campus in Hooksett, NH. Congratulations to Lavallee Brensinger Architects, of Manchester, NH and Mackey Mitchell of St. Louis, MO who provided the architecture for the project, and to general contractor  Whiting Turner of Framingham, MA.

Southern New Hampshire University’s Kingston Hall is a 382-bed residence hall.  The new residence hall replaces three of the University’s aged buildings with one, student-centric living, learning environment. To enhance the first- and second-year student experience and encourage socialization, residential wings are organized in 16 and 20-bed pods which include shared bathrooms and living rooms. The first floor is open to the greater campus community providing an array of amenities including: game room, private and public study spaces, computer lab, outdoor patio, and multi-purpose classroom. The residence hall has an open-style kitchen area where students can convene, make meals together, and connect with their peers. All design decisions focused on the SNHU’s goal of facilitating a sense of belonging and making the college life transition successful for the individual student. The building is targeting LEED Silver.

TFMoran Awarded Best NH Engineering Firm for 2019

TFMoran was honored as the 2019 “Best of Business” in the engineering category on Thursday, March 14th at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord, marking the seventh consecutive year that TFMoran has received this award. Awards are based on a poll of 4,400 NH Business Review readers.

“We are deeply appreciative of this recognition NH Business Review readers have given us year after year. It is a tribute to the ‘putting clients first’ ethic that our employees practice every day”, explains Bob Duval, President of TFMoran. “Additionally, we are thankful to be able to support events and organizations that have a positive impact on our community.”

TFMoran representatives Dylan Cruess, Nick Golon, Jeremy Belanger, Brenda Kolbow, Marty Gavin, and their guests, celebrated with other BOB Awards winners to the Rockin’ 50’s party theme. Once again NH Business Review staff created a fun and festive atmosphere with great music, decorations, themed-fare and beverages. TFM’s Nick Golon presents at the ASCE 2019 Multi-Region Leadership Conference

TFMoran’s Nick Golon, PE attended the American Society of Civil Engineers 2019 Multi-Region Leadership Conference for Regions 1, 2, 4 & 5 held in Orlando, FL as part of the NH Section delegation.  The conference included the Workshop for Section and Branch Leaders (WSBL), the Eastern Region Younger Member Council (ERYMC), and the Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders (WSCL).  Participation in the Workshop for Section and Branch Leaders strengthens and expands the programs and activities of Sections and Branches through the interchange of ideas, information and experiences, while it exposes incoming officers to the tools needed to be effective leaders.

Nick not only attended the conference but was also a presenter, leading breakout sessions on “Creating a Successful Website and Use of Social Media”.  With Nick’s role as Treasurer of the NH Section he focused on what he knows best and centered the presentation on the concept of designing a website to fit your budget and best serve your membership.  The sessions he led were well-attended and highlighted by incredible crowd participation making for an informative and fun experience for all.

Celebrating Engineers Week, 2019

This week is National Engineers Week 2019. National Engineers Week is celebrated annually on the week that encompasses George Washington’s birthday, February 22nd, and calls attention to engineers’ contributions to our society. Many companies throughout the United States celebrate this week by attending conferences or going to schools to raise awareness about the importance of engineering and what engineers do.

TFMoran currently has 33 engineers on staff, including civil, structural, and traffic engineers. The company will be celebrating Engineers Week by featuring some recent projects in the local papers, including the Union Leader and the Portsmouth Herald. TFMoran would also like to thank its incredible team of engineers for all of the hard work that they do and the incredible tasks they accomplish.

The NSPE-NH and ASCE-NH hosted a banquet in celebration of Engineers Week on February 19, 2019 at the Grappone Conference Center. The banquet featured a social hour, followed by remarks from New Hampshire Governor, Chris Sununu.

Looking Back on TFMoran’s 50th Year Celebration

As we start a new year, we’re taking a moment to look back on 2018 – a year of celebration for TFMoran. Last year marked our 50th year of service, and we found ourselves “Celebrating 50 Years” throughout the entire year. To commemorate this milestone, we designed a Gold Anniversary logo that  was used on all company collateral including polo shirts, pens, notebooks, and even brandy snifters.

Throughout the year, TFMoran hosted special events with staff  and guests to celebrate our 50-year-milestone, including two summer barbecues held at our Bedford office. Great food and great fun were key elements as we shared our success with those who have made our 50 years in business possible. The barbecues featured steak tips, hamburgers, chicken, summer salads, topped off with anniversary cake and ice cream, of course!

In addition to the commemorative gifts and barbecues, TFMoran held a 50th Anniversary celebration luncheon at the Bedford Village Inn just before Thanksgiving. TFMoran’s principals gave thanks to the more than 60 dedicated staff in each department: Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Land Surveying, Traffic Engineering, Landscape Architects and Stormwater Management Group.

The year-long celebration concluded with an office family Christmas party, decorated in theme with blue and gold ornaments, a beautiful live tree, and festive poinsettias.

Now that 2019 is underway, TFMoran has retired the 50th Anniversary logo and has introduced a slightly revised logo to start off our 51st year. Here’s to continued success and another 50 years!

TFMoran’s Bedford Office Celebrated Christmas with a Festive Party

TFMoran’s Bedford office hosted its annual Family Christmas Party on Friday December 14th. The office was decorated with beautiful gold and blue ornaments and poinsettias in honor of TFMoran’s 50th Anniversary. The centerpiece was a 12-foot-tall Christmas tree, draped in beautiful gold ribbon with a bow at the top. The sparkling lights and ornaments, and tasteful selection of Christmas music, created a perfect Christmas Party environment.

The party started promptly at 4 o’clock, when appetizers were being served in the main lobby. Everyone enjoyed the variety of appetizers, provided by Tidewater Catering. The meatballs were a big hit, as were the chicken quesadilla trumpets. All the food provided was delicious, and everyone at the party left with a full stomach. Most of the leftovers went home with John DiFrancesco, the marketing assistant intern, so he and his roommates at Southern New Hampshire University could enjoy them during Sunday’s Patriots game.

There was a great assortment of desserts for anyone looking for something sweet. The desserts included cookies, brownies, and other small bite-sized sweets. There was wine and beer for the adults to drink, and soda and juices for everyone to enjoy. There was also eggnog for those feeling extra festive. Attendees meandered around the party, talking with one another and sharing funny memories and stories. There were many smiling faces and the room was filled with the sound of laughter and storytelling. There was a kid’s craft station where the children could create snowflake, Christmas tree, reindeer, and Santa ornaments. The kids seemed to enjoy the crafts and made some very sparkly and creative ornaments to take home.

TFMoran Celebrates 50 Years at the Annual Harvest Lunch

TFMoran celebrated the holiday season with our Annual Harvest Lunch on November 21, 2018. The Company also celebrated our 50th year in business. TFMoran staff from the Bedford and Portsmouth offices met at the Bedford Village Inn to give thanks for another great year and enjoy some good food and beverages with coworkers. Prior to the event, company photos to commemorate the 50th year, were taken by Studio One photographer, John Gauvin.

The venue was beautiful in the Great Hall, as the Bedford Village Inn recently decorated for the holiday season. Floral centerpieces created by TFMoran’s Maryanne Murray, with help from Susan Bartley, added to the harvest-theme décor. Upon arrival, TFM staff socialized while enjoying a variety of healthy appetizers and holiday beverages from the bar. Then, all were treated to the delicious main course of salad, a lovely squash soup, steak, chicken, and roasted vegetables. Following the meal, a white raspberry-filled 50th Anniversary cake made by Frederick’s Pastries, was served to the enjoyment of all.

TFMoran president Bob Duval addressed the staff by congratulating the company and its employees on the 50 years in business and for another great year. Bob took a moment to recognize those who had been with TFMoran for more than 10 years (some over 30 years) and thanked them for their service. TFMoran’s COO, Dylan Cruess, then spoke to the staff about upcoming benefit news, such as health insurance, the 401k program and other benefits. In appreciation of everyone’s dedication to the Company, holiday bonuses were handed out to all by the five TFMoran principals.

A special thanks to the Bedford Village Inn for hosting the event and creating such a lovely atmosphere for this special occasion. It was a great send off to Thanksgiving holiday weekend, as we gave thanks for our clients, our TFM team, friends and family.

CPR Training at TFMoran

Members of the Bedford TFMoran team participated in a CPR certification course on November 14, 2018. Participants met in the first-floor conference room, where the training was held. Many of the attendees had been certified in the past and were taking the course as a refresher course. The course covered CPR trainings for all ages including adults, children, and infants. The certification class was taught by Robert Martin, who works with Exeter Hospital. The class was broken into two parts. Participants watched informational videos during the first portion of the class, and during the second part were able to practice the techniques on training mannequins.  The informational videos, provided by the American Heart Association, explained how to determine if a person needs CPR, the number of breaths and compressions necessary to properly perform CPR, how to properly perform these compressions and breaths, and how to use an AED, or Automated External Defibrillator. The Bedford office installed an AED in May through a New Hampshire Department of Safety program, which offers a discount and training for participants. There was also a portion of the training dedicated to helping someone who is choking and properly performing the Heimlich maneuver. Of course, we hope that all in attendance never need to use the techniques learned today, but we are glad that our team members are educated and would be able to provide assistants in an emergency.
