TFMoran’s Nick Golon in the New Hampshire Union Leader 2020 Class of “40 Under Forty”

Congratulations to TFMoran Senior Project Manager, Nick Golon, PE for being recognized by the New Hampshire Union Leader as one of the state’s standout young professionals!

On Monday, January 27th a special edition was published in the Union Leader’s business section, 2020 Class of 40 Under Forty. Nick was featured as one of the 40 best and brightest young leaders in New Hampshire for his work as a civil engineer and his community involvement. Nick joined TFMoran’s Civil Engineering Department in July 2006 and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of New Hampshire and Maine. His engineering background includes a diverse cross-section of projects ranging from the residential and the commercial market to industrial and energy applications. His history of successfully managing fast-paced multi-discipline projects provides a strategic benefit to any project team. Nick also serves on the American Society of Civil Engineers-New Hampshire Section Board of Directors and has participated in the ASCE Legislative Fly-In program in Washington, DC. He recently helped ASCE-NH raise $15,000 for the Scholarship Fund for current and prospective New Hampshire engineering students. Nick gives back to his community in many ways including volunteering on numerous non-profit organizations and mentoring New Hampshire students interested in science, engineering and construction.

A reception to honor the 2020 Class is scheduled for March 18th at the Grappone Center in Concord. This is the 19th annual Class of 40 Under Forty event. TFMoran congratulates all 40 of the honorees. We thank you for your contributions in making New Hampshire a better place to work and live. Ezequiel Galvan joins TFMoran’s Structural Engineering Department

Ezequiel Galvan has joined TFMoran as a Structural Engineer in the Bedford office. Mr. Galvan recently graduated from the University of New Hampshire at Durham with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He has two years of experience as a Structural Design Intern, focusing on the design of concrete planks, crane layouts, and hoist plans, as well as concrete quality control testing.

Jeremy Belanger receives Professional Engineer License

Jeremy Belanger, a Senior Project Engineer for TFMoran, recently passed the Professional Engineer exam and is now a licensed civil engineer in the state of New Hampshire. Mr. Belanger joined TFMoran’s civil engineering department in 2015. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Water Resources) from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Belanger’s work experience includes civil/site design and infrastructure design, as well as regulatory permitting and approvals for residential, commercial, industrial, municipal and energy projects.

TFMoran’s Nick Golon helps ASCE-NH raise $15,000 for NH Student Scholarships

The 2nd Annual Engineers Day Conference took place at the Puritan Conference Center in Manchester, NH, providing professional development hours and networking opportunities for licensed professionals while giving back to the next generation of engineers by raising $15,000 for the ASCE-NH Scholarship Fund!

Beyond providing educational opportunities to New Hampshire youth, attendees were treated to a program consisting of Resilient & Innovative Construction Practices, NH-Based Research Driving Progress Throughout the Granite State, and Principles of Effective Leadership, High Performance Teams, and Competent Communication.  Each session was led by skilled speakers handpicked by the ASCE-NH Board of Directors who proved to be informative and thought provoking.

The ASCE-NH Scholarship fund includes two types of scholarship; the Fred L. Douglas High School Scholarship and the S. Russell Stearns Scholarship.  The Fred L. Douglas High School Scholarship was created in 2000 and named in honor of ASCE-NH Life member and the long time Chair of the Scholarship Fund Fred Douglas.  Its purpose is to aid New Hampshire high school students in their pursuit of an engineering education, with the hope to increase the awareness of the civil engineering profession for high school students in New Hampshire.  New Hampshire High School Students who are accepted to any ABET-Accredited engineering program are eligible for this scholarship.  S. Russell Stearns (1915-1997) was a professor of engineering at Dartmouth College for a record-setting 54 years and was known for his soft-spoken, nurturing grandfatherly nature. With the amazing support of his wife, Lee, Professor Stearns was a leader within the New Hampshire engineering community. This scholarship is an annual award for ASCE Student Members who are enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program.  The number of recipients and value of each scholarship varies depending on the quantity and character of applications received each year.

The deadline for applications is April 30, 2020 and scholarships will be presented to the recipients at the May ASCE-NH membership meeting.

Listen to TFM’s Eric Salovitch discuss Mount Tecumseh on a National Surveyor’s Podcast

Eric Salovitch, one of TFMoran’s Portsmouth Survey Technicians, is the Chair of the newly formed group The Young Surveyor’s Network NH Society. As a NHLSA Young Surveyor, Eric was featured on a December podcast for the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS). The NSPS recently announced their new podcast “Surveyor Says!” episodes featuring all things surveying. The Episode 5 podcast features Eric’s interview with NSPS Vice President Timothy Burch, discussing the challenges, methodologies and results of the Mount Tecumseh survey project. Eric thanked many of the local surveying companies who helped out with lending their equipment. Mount Tecumseh is located in Grafton County, New Hampshire and is part of the White Mountains. It is listed as one of the forty-eight 4,000 footer mountains to hike in New Hampshire according to the Appalachian Mountain Club.

TFMoran Bedford Office Christmas Party

TFMoran’s Bedford office got together in the reception area on Friday, December 20th to celebrate the holiday season. Appetizers from TGIFridays were enjoyed along with delicious meatballs and garlic bread from Table 8 Pasta in Bedford. It was a nice time to take a break from work and socialize! TFM’s president Bob Duval was working away while the festivities were going on, now that’s dedication! Thanks to Dylan Cruess for putting on this fun holiday event!

The Portsmouth TFMoran team enjoyed an afternoon at Bowl-O-Rama at the ‘2019 Holiday Bowl’. There was pizza, healthy banter, cross-lane competition, laughs, and sore muscles (some more sore than others). Happy Holidays!

Thomas Burns, PE promoted to Senior Project Manager

Thomas Burns, PE has recently been promoted to Senior Project Manager. He joined the TFMoran civil engineering team in 2014 and has over 19 years of relevant experience. Mr. Burns has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 2000. He is a licensed professional engineer in the states of New Hampshire and Maine, and a licensed New Hampshire Subsurface Disposal System Designer. He is responsible for overall project management of private and municipal land development projects. Mr. Burns has extensive experience in site/civil design, design of commercial septic systems, and environmental permits of commercial, institutional, industrial, residential and municipal projects.

TFMoran promotes Jennifer Porter to Senior Project Engineer

TFMoran announces the promotion of Jennifer Porter, PE to Senior Project Engineer/Traffic Engineer. Ms. Porter joined TFMoran’s Civil Engineering department in 1998. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University. Ms. Porter’s engineering experience includes traffic analysis, civil/site design, and environmental permitting of private and public sector projects, including municipal, commercial, industrial, residential and institutional projects. She has played a key role in many of TFMoran’s largest projects over the past 20+ years and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of New Hampshire.

TFMoran gathers for the annual Harvest Lunch in celebration of the Holiday Season

TFMoran held our annual company gathering, known as the “Harvest Lunch”, on the day before Thanksgiving in the Pappas Room at The Puritan Backroom. The Portsmouth and Bedford offices both came together for a full company gathering of more than 60 people! Thank you to The Puritan Backroom for the amazing food and lovely venue. Thanksgiving centerpieces created by Angela, added to the harvest-theme décor. Upon arrival, TFM staff enjoyed socializing over appetizers and holiday beverages before the delicious buffet-style lunch. Dessert featured a specially-made Harvest Lunch decorated cake by Frederick’s Pastries in Amherst, NH…. delicious!

After lunch, TFMoran President Robert Duval wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and spoke about all the wonderful things to be thankful for over the past year. Bob took a moment to congratulate TFMoran for our achievements, including the 2019 NH Business Review “Best of Business” Award for the seventh consecutive year. Then, thanking the team for our combined efforts and hard work resulting in a strong year. He also thanked each of TFMoran’s groups individually noting specific achievements over the past year. When said what makes TFMoran succeed, President Duval said, “We put client service first, we take pride in the excellence of our designs and we are leaders and innovators.” TFMoran continues to strive for the best and look forward to another year of success working together.

Dylan Cruess, COO also addressed the team, speaking about health insurance, the 401k program and other benefits. The TFMoran principals were happy to give out bonuses to the team in appreciation of everyone’s hard work and dedication to the Company.

A special thank you to the TFMoran principals for hosting this very special occasion. It was a great send off to the Thanksgiving holiday as everyone headed home after to spend time with their families.
